Dota 2 30th May – Item Schema Update

The item schema for the internal version of Dota 2 has once again been updated. This week’s schema update is huge with a number of new additions, suggesting that the store may soon? be arriving to the normal client.

Item Schema Update

We’ve a large number of new items, bundles, misc items and more in this schema update. Remember all of the shots seen here are low quality, model viewer shots of the items so some things may look a little bugged (eg Dragon Knight etc).

Also wouldn’t expect all this content to arrive at once and a lot some of it still looks like work in progress.

REMINDER: All of this content is taken from the internal Dota 2 development client, I wouldn’t treat any of this information as concrete, so please don’t go crazy in the comments or I’ll start hitting people with my staff.

Misc Items

A number of updates to the misc items/tools, including the removal of the Repentant Souls that would allow users to buy themselves out of the low priority queue.

Battle Bonuses

The drop rate boosting souls have been renamed to “Battle Bonuses”, which makes sense seeing as the newest revision of the dashboard UI refers to your profile’s level/xp as Battle Points, suggesting that the higher level you are (eg the more you play), the higher chance you have of items dropping for you.

Description Tags & Name Tags

The description tag and name tag system from TF2 looks to make a return in Dota 2.

Dota 2 Access Bundle

Another new addition to the schema update is a “Dota 2 Early Access Bundle”, which provides you with a Dota 2 Early Access Pass, a Mighty Boar courier and a full set of items for Sven and Axe. I think it might be potentially a way to buy yourself into the beta for those of you not already in it. Again that’s just my speculation, all of this content is coming from the internal client so I wouldn’t treat any of it as concrete information.

Gifts

The gifting system works very similar to the TF2 one, a player who has the gift item activates it and depending on the type of gift they have either one person will get a random gift or everyone will.

League Passes

We saw the first references to a league pass in the 23rd of May patch, there doesn’t seem to much detail regarding this yet but at a guess it sounds like an in game league system, with viewer passes being sold or handed out by the “Pass Admin”.

Treasure Caches

It looks like the treasure caches are going to be series based similar to TF2 except they will be more tailored towards a specific hero, with the actual chest being designed in an art style similar to that of it’s heroes.
